The Finer Details
2018 Pinot Grigio D.O.C. from Bastianich Winery
(Pack Contains 1 x Bottle of 750mL)
What does our Somm say?
An ideal marriage for this Pinot Grigio from Bastianich would undoubtedly be the traditional pairing of seafoods; fried fish baskets, grilled calamari, and even shellfish pasta dishes.
For a lighter twist, try this wine with some vegetable quiche, mushroom or asparagus risotto, or crusty bruschetta of sundried tomatoes and eggplant. Cheeses and general Aperitivo fare are go-to when it comes to enjoying a bottle or two of this Pinot Grigio amongst friends. Some Sicilian green olives, aged cheeses, lighter salamis and rockmelon wrapped in prosciutto would be super tasty together with this drop.
Whichever context you enjoy your Pinot Grigio in, just make sure you’re chilling it to the correct temperature to really enhance its fruity and fresh profile.

2018 Lugana D.O.C. ‘Il Gruccione’ from Nunzio Ghiraldi
(Pack Contains 1 x Bottle of 750mL)
Wow. This is some serious wine magic from Lake Garda, a divine lakeside setting for the Nunzio Ghiraldi wine estate.
The Bouquet is fruity and elegant, with notes of almond, thyme and sage. In the mouth, it gives sensations of a very well balanced acidity. This marries with the good savouriness which comes from the clayey land rich in mineral salts. Freshness is the final best characteristic.
The minerality and richness you find in this dry white lends itself to match with mature and hard cheese, lean fish dishes and shellfish.
In terms of a perfect wine to food combination? I would definitely go for a spaghetti ‘ai frutti di mare’ (clams, pippies, mussels, squid and shrimp) with a light dusting of chilli, or alternatively some crusted fish with a creamy lemon dressing.

2019/20 Soave Classico D.O.C. ‘Grisela’ from Tessari Winery
(Pack Contains 1 x Bottle of 750mL)
What does our Somm say?
‘Grisela’ Soave D.O.C. is an ‘every meal’ white wine. It works beautifully with light appetizers (olives, breads, sardines, cheeses, chips etc.), yet also pairs well with a delicate vegetable or cheese risottos, fish, pasta with seafood or using cheese or cream based white sauce.
But hey, even in winter, this white wine is versatile. You can try it with vegetable soups, legumes, or herb crusted fish.
If you want to re-create a truly ‘authentic’ experience, try your hand at some Veneto dishes such as Red Radicchio and pork sausage risotto, ‘Sarde in Saor’, Primavera pasta or Bigoli pasta with duck ragu. Then you’ll really enjoy it with a meal.
The volcanic soils of the hillside are rich with basaltic rocks and clays, which guarantees the health of the plant and the promotion of minerality and floral aroma that is characteristic of the Garganega grape. Artisanal wine making at its best, the straw-gold ‘Grisela’ is the backbone of the Tessari vineyard; a delicious entry level wine with elegant fragrances, citrus fruits and a good mineral notes that I would expect from the terroir.
Optimal Serving Temp: Chill to 10-12 Degrees Celsius
Drinking Age: Drink Now to 12 months.
What does Soave Classico ‘D.O.C.’ means?
This refers to the Italian acronym ‘Denominazione di Origine Controllata’ (or ‘Controlled designation of origin’). For Soave Classico to carry the ‘D.O.C.’ on the label, it must be produced within the dedicated Soave region and have a minimum 70% amount of Garganega grape used to produce the wine. Strict harvesting caps (yield quantity), minimum alcohol content, and other regulations must also be adhered to, in order to label your wine a Soave D.O.C

2020 Valpolicella Classico D.O.C. from Michele Castellani
(Pack Contains 1 x Bottle of 750mL)
What does our Somm say?
This wine is a super easy drinking and versatile red drop from family winemakers, Michele Castellani.
Whereas other wines from Castellani are super full bodied and strong, this Valpolicella Classico D.O.C ‘i Castei’ has a lower body at 12.5% and therefore lends itself to lighter meals or entrees.
In particular, I would enjoy this wine with any roasted chicken or turkey meals, vegetable risotto or gnocchi with a cheese and walnut sauce. Even lighter meals such as broths, minestrone or marinated grilled vegetables would work wonderfully.
Outside of a meal setting, we love to savour the taste of this wine with a board of good quality Prosciutto and lighter salami with some seasoned cheeses; think Parmigiano Reggiano, Aged Gouda, and fresh baguette.

2020 Nebbiolo Langhe D.O.C. from Cascina Ghercina
(Pack Contains 1 x Bottle of 750mL)
What does our Somm say?
This expression of Nebbiolo Langhe D.O.C from Cascina Ghercina is a truly elegant drop. It hold romantic nostalgia due to its namesake. To drink this wine is to (for a moment) stroll through the misty mountains of the Langhe wine region of Piemonte.
This wine traditionally pairs to noble foods such as duck, prime rib, well-made sausages and pork shank, however vegetable dishes are fantastic ‘food mates’ when approached with the twist of regional Mediterranean flavours. Think Eggplant parmigiana, Pasta ‘alla Norma’, stuffed and baked capsicum, or roasted veggies with a rosemary and garlic sauce.
If instead you prefer your Nebbiolo Langhe D.O.C in a more casual setting, try this with a platter of high quality prosciutto, salami and cheese. Make sure the cheese is on the creamier or fattier side, such as a nice goat’s cheese on crunchy bread or some aged Parmigiano Reggiano.

- Nebbiolo 100%

2015/16 Morellino di Scansano D.O.C.G,
Maremma Toscana Sangiovese “I Perazzi” from La Mozza Winery
(Pack Contains 1 x Bottle of 750mL)
What does our Somm say?
There’s a reason why ‘I Perazzi’ is so highly regarded amongst the wine community. It’s an entirely pleasing, easy-to-drink wine, never boring and never taken for granted.
As I breathe in this red drop, I pick up a complex harmony of red berries, balsamic, with noticeable slightly spicy and tobacco leaf notes. On the palate, it still remains fresh, with lots of juicy red and dark fruit. Warm in the mouth, with great balance. A pleasurable drink.
Wines with such presence, such as this Morellino di Scansano D.O.C from La Mozza, can definitely be enjoyed outside of a formal meal setting, with rich cheeses, dried fruits, good quality pâté, or fennel salami.
However, every great Italian wine ‘sings’ when enjoyed with a meal, and for this wine, the flavours of red meats, marinated vegetables, cured salami and prosciutto and even poultry make a well matched occasion of this wine.
My personal favourite? Try this with a wild boar ragu through handmade potato gnocchi, or some well marinated veal, on a bed of Brussel sprouts and pancetta.
