What does our Somm say?
The Kangaroo Island Vineyards
In 1991, fifth–generation Islanders Michael and Rosie Florance joined with the Amadio Family to produce the first commercial Kangaroo Island wine, under the Kangaroo Island Trading Company brand.
The vineyard located on Kangaroo Island’s Cygnet River has the perfect growing climate.
When combined with careful land nurturing and Amadio winemaking expertise, exceptional wines are produced. The Kangaroo Island range showcases the exceptional depth of Island terroir whilst including generous fruit flavours.
Considering the delicate citrus aromas and savory palate of this drop, it is quite a versatile Chardonnay when it comes to food pairings.
For light lunch fare or afternoon drinks, we suggest sweet potato fries, fried chicken, toasted macadamia nuts or creamy cheese risotto.
Within the context of evening dining and social banqueting, we found the Kangaroo Island Chardonnay will sing when paired with barbeque prawns, roast chicken with herb sauce, shellfish basket (lobster, shrimp, crab, scallops), and barbequed corn ribs.
Optimal Serving Temp: 10-13 Degrees Celsius

1927
Giovanni found a job as a Market Gardener in a fruit orchard at East Marden and never lost a day’s work from there on. In 1932, Giovanni paid for his wife and son’s passage by ship, to join him in Australia, they arrived January 7th. In 1934, Giovanni purchased what became the family home and land at East Marden.
1936
In 1936, Giovanni Amadio commercially registered his dry table Wine after years of making wine for family and friends. Giovanni sourced his grapes from leased vineyards nearby to make his well-crafted wine from his cellar door in Adelaide. His lighter, drier wine style became rapidly popular with word spreading interstate. A successful production began over time with his family cultivating a sincere appreciation for premium winemaking.
1940
In 1949, he was recruited to become a member of the SA Fruit Growers Association. This led to a continued interest in development of the Market Garden Business through a vendors stall where he sold his produce to retailers and shops.
1985
His subsequent plantings, vision for the region and diligent work lead to his premium wines gracing the tabletops of restaurants and households throughout Australia and overseas. His dedication as a wine producer focused on quality and helped him build an enviable reputation for creating award winning wines.
2005 and beyond
Success breeds success! As the winemaking generation continues with his son Danniel Amadio who aptly named the Amadio range of wines. Sourcing his premium fruit from the family’s Kersbrook, Adelaide Hills vineyards, Danniel maintains limited case production of every wine range to ensure hands on production standards, honouring family custom.
